AustriaTech GmbH, a federal agency for technological measures, was founded in 2005 and is wholly owned by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT). Managing directors are Dr. Reinhard Pfliegl and Mag. Roland Dietrich.

Core activities and competence of AustriaTech:
AustriaTech has the objective of setting up activities that will contribute to strengthening and further developing Austria’s technological competitiveness. The portfolio of activities is based on the business areas Future of Transport, ITS Development, ITS Deployment and Technology Transfer. Its principal focus lies on stimulating developments in the field of infrastructure technologies, on the coordinated implementation of these within Austria and on the international placement of Austrian technological competences. In implementing these aims, the company pursues non-profit-making interests extending beyond the entrepreneurial objectives of both public and private companies.
