MODUL University Vienna conducts state-of-the-art research in new media technology, tourism and public governance. Established by the Vienna Economic Chamber of Commerce in 2007, MODUL University Vienna combines a strong academic foundation with commitment to sustainability and innovation as key drivers of long-term success. It fosters independent, original research for participating in national and international R&D programs. The faculty comprises renowned Austrian and international scholars, who have a strong commitment to develop this young organization into a leading research platform. The Department of New Media Technology undertakes interdisciplinary research on knowledge acquisition, develops media monitoring and business intelligence applications, and investigates the potential of new media technology for content production, interactive marketing and community building. The following research areas are the departmentsí primary drivers of innovation: (i) integration of semantic and geospatial Web technology, (ii) textual statistics and natural language processing, (iii) human-computer interaction and visual analytics.
