Central aim of organisation We solve problems in the fields of optical fault detection, image processing, and prediction in complex systems.
Briefly describe your organisation The Department of Knowledge-Based Mathematical Systems of the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (JKU) has a long tradition in basic research in fuzzy logic. During the past ten years this was extended to applied research, leading to industrial applications of fuzzy logic in signal and image processing, system identification, modelling, machine learning, fault detection, and controlling. The approaches include knowledge-based and data-driven modelling techniques with fuzzy systems, (fuzzy) decision trees, and also statistical methods.
The department has two locations, one at the main campus of the Johannes Kepler University Linz, and one in the Softwarepark Hagenberg, where industrial and research projects in cooperation with various industrial and institutional partners are concentrated.
