 Briefly describe your organisation
In 2001 the Department of Computer Science at the University of Innsbruck was established as part of the technology initiative in Western Austria. The Federal Ministry for Science and Research and the Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung were the main contributors.

The Department of Computer Science is part of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics.

The - currently - eight research groups cover areas in theoretical as well as applied and practical computer science.

About 800 Computer Science students are supervised by approx. 150 scientific and administrative staff members.

In addition, the Department is strongly committed to the role in Western Austria as collaborator within the academic and industrial context and as educator of much sought-after IT experts.

The Department of Computer Science is committed to deliver research results of highest quality addressing challenges of eminent scientific, societal and practical relevance. A majority of the research topics lie at the cutting edge of international and national initiatives, e.g. in the areas of Robotics, Reliable and Secure Software, High Performance Computing, Cloud Computing or Green IT.
