 Briefly describe your organisation
The primary objective of VRVis is to build a bridge between research and its practical implementation in industry. Our team of over 70 staff work hard to boost the innovative potential of Austrias leading companies.

VRVis Zentrum für Virtual Reality und Visualisierung Forschungs-GmbH was founded in the year 2000 as part of the K plus funding programme run by the Austrian government. VRVis has been a K1 centre under the succeeding COMET (Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies) programme since 2010.

Today VRVis Forschungs-GmbH is Austrias leading institute for application-led research in visual computing and has received international acclaim for its work. Together with the TU Vienna, the TU Graz and the University of Vienna, it forms one of the largest research clusters in Europe to focus on computer graphics and plays a prominent role in the research initiatives run by the government and the city of Vienna.

We make an active contribution to research and technology networks at both national and international level, using our expertise to directly promote the sharing of knowledge and experience between research and industry. We are committed to taking technology out of the laboratory and into real life. Our research and development projects focus on the very problems that trade and industry are currently facing. Our visualisation solutions enable our partners and customers to present their data in a way that is easily understandable, allowing them to identify patterns and relationships and gain insights into particular areas in order to facilitate decision making.

 RTD Experience
The research focus of VRVis is Visual Computing, where we perform research on transforming data into meaningful visual images through novel software algorithms, as well as optimizing the interaction between software and hardware. Visual Computing is a very broad field that copes with a large variety of data sources. Correspondingly, research projects at VRVis encompass a very wide range of data types and application fields, including engine simulation, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, aerial images, laser range scans, financial data, and seismic measurements for oil field exploration. The most important goal of our research is to visualize data in a way that provides the user with optimal insight and value. Key factors are real-time capability, interaction, and the quality and accuracy of the resulting visual representations, as well as the possibility to conduct meaningful analyses.
